MONDAY/TUESDAY 7th/8th MAY 2012.
After our tea and toast on Monday morning I set to in the office to put together all the documents that we need to go and arrange for our ‘ Residency Card ’ after speaking to Mano on Sunday; I found that we needed one new document for Brenda from the council office down in Sabinillas so we shot down in the car and they very kindly produced it there and then ! We took both the dogs with us in the car, Derrick is used to going out in a car with Mano and Anna and Cheta who is not just loves it, she sits on Brenda’s knee and put her head out of the open window! We went for our walk, for a change along the front in Sabinillas as you can see in the pictures below. The weather is getting better by the day as you can see and by tomorrow and Wednesday it is going to be 25/28 degs or more ! When we got back I went to get all the documents photocopied, ours is not working, first I went to Nikita in the IT CafĂ© around corner,closed,the Town Hall don’t do it, the bank in Calle Mar also don’t and sent me to the fancy goods shop next door – closed ! By now I was hot and flustered and my last port of call was at the old Town Hall which is now the council Cultural Office – a Spanish friend Lucy from round the corner works there and she did all the copying for me, in duplicate and said in the future come and see her- at no cost ! Thanks Lucy !! I then called the number that Mano had given me and have arranged an appointment for 10-10am on Thursday at the ‘ Policia National ’in Estepona – fingers crossed that we have all the right documents, we should have as Mano has arranged all these things in the past for many people. Meanwhile over in Italy Mark Cavendish had a very nasty fall ( No broken bones ) in the final 100 mtrs,of a stage of the “ Giro d’Italia when he was chopped down by another rider who crossed his path ! In the evening for supper we had cold Chicken and salad with new Potatoes before we settled down to the TV; the reason that we are watching all these films is two fold, first we now have the time that we did not have in a past life and secondly it is one of our relaxations. The main film on TVE1 was the thriller “ Disclosure ” with Michael Douglas and Demi Moore from 1994 and then the late/late film on the ‘ Paramount Channel ’ was very gripping erotic thriller called “ Jade ” with David Caruso,Chazz Palminteri and Linda Fiorentino – one not to miss and another surprise ending !
Today we are pottering about the house, I went around to the butchers and picked up some Pork Cutlets for tonight and some lovely Braising Steak for tomorrow; Brenda has the washing on the go and I’ am catching up in the office on the WWW. I sent an e-mail to our dear friends Tim and Thea over in Old Colwyn yesterday to arrange to be able to make a Skype Video call later this month to Ben on his 18th birthday and next month to Jo on her 21st birthday ! The reply from Thea with some up to date news came in this morning on my Samsung Mobile – all very cleaver – thanks Thea we are looking forward to being in touch ! Later this evening Thea sent us some pictures from this weekend showing the family on their way out to their friends Patrick and Beth's son's wedding; We can't get over Ben who is now a 6ft+ Man and Jo who is a " Helluva " Woman !!The pictures above show them all in their finest in the hall of their house in Old Colwyn. This evening I will watch on my Football Channel connection on the PC the Liverpool v Chelsea Premier league game with interest – will Torres score ?! Tomorrow night it is the ‘ UEFA Europa League final which is taking place in Bucharest between Atl,Madrid and Atheltic Bilbao. The ‘ Bacardi ’ card arrived last night on Facebook from Brian over in Finland, very appropriate since I have been drinking Bacardi and Coke since I was 16 !Also this afternoon on Facebook we made contact with our friendly HSBC Bank Manager that helped us when we sold our house and bought the Winnebago back in 2006- Wynne so nice to hear from you and thanks for all your help,support and trust back then !We were only speaking to our dear friends in Old Colwyn earlier today - it's a small world.
Tonight's film was classic true story " Defiance " (2008 ) about four Jewish brothers in Nazi occupied Eastern Europe who escape into the Belarussian Forests where the join Russian resistance fighters and endeavor to build a village in order to protect themselves and about 1,000 Jewish non-combatants.The ' Bielski ' brothers are played by Daniel Craig,Liev Schreiber,George MacKay and Jaime Bell ( Billy Elliot ) Do not miss this film - it is one not to miss right up to the end.
PS; Liverpool 4 Chelsea 1 shame they did not play like this on Saturday !
Thought for the Day;
