MANILVA THIS FRIDAY.

FRIDAY 4th MAY 2012.

We went down to Sabinillas on Friday morning to do the shopping and a couple of calls;the sun was out but the forecast for tomorrow is cloudy and rain – then it’s back to sun.sun,sun on Monday.After calling at the bank we stopped at a council office to pick up our updated ‘ Padron Municipal – Empadronamiento ’ which we ordered last week- you have to keep up with all the paper bureaucracy as at the moment as the new government is changing the rules every Friday at their press conference in Madrid ! After stopping at the English Bookshop for the papers and birthday cards we then did our weekly shop at ‘ Mercadona ’ – the fish counter is always very good and the centre piece this week was “ Robadallo – Turbot ” It was very fresh and they only had large fish so we could not afford it as it is rather expensive and we did have the Dover Sole at home anyway ! Sadly you are not allowed to take pictures in the supermarket or I would be able to show the fish market in all its glory ! Later after dropping the goods back at home we walked down to our local market to pick up some fresh flowers and on the way back, with the dogs we stopped at out butchers for our Saturday night ‘ Plancha – Steak’
In the afternoon I watched on the BBC IPlayer on the large PC “ Later with Jools Holland ” It was last Fridays show and it was very good with as usual Jool’s selection of all types of music; Jack White ( The White Stripes ) had an all girl band at the start and at the end an all male band – he also joined Jool’s on the piano and sang a country and western song as Norah Jones ( Ravi Shankar’s daughter ) did later also with her very distinctive voice. Then it was “ The Chieftains ” who were joined by a Blue Grass Rockabilly group called the “ Carolina Chocolate Drops ” with a girl fiddle player who had a “ Helluva ” voice – then “ The Secret Sisters ” two girls with haunting melodic voices. It is the 50th anniversary of the Chieftains getting together ! The rock group “ Alabama Shakers ” provided the heavy music with yet another girl singer/guitarist with a raucous voice. In the evening we had the Dover Sole baked in the oven and garnished with local fresh Gambas before we settled down to watch the TV. Below are two pictures of the what is going to be the new Plaza next to the Wine Centre – work stopped before Xmas but now more funds have become available so it is hopefully going to be finished and the Roman Kiln that was discovered when they leveled the ground will be the center piece ! Watch this space.

Thought for the Day;

For every minute you are angry you loose sixty seconds of happiness.
