FRIDAY 15th/
FEBRUARY 2013.
DAVID AND
JANES VISIT;
We picked
the folks up in Gibraltar from the airport, Brenda walked across to greet them
as you can see in the pictures below; the weather was fine and the forecast was
good for the weekend with sun and clear blue skies but sadly we had a sudden
turn for the worse, which was not forecast, so the weekend has been overcast
and grey! This did not affect us still having a ‘Helluva’ weekend as you will see!!
We first
went into La Linea to go for some Tapas at ‘Bodeguiya’ – they
were closed again – this will turn in for a theme for weekend as you will see later!
So I shot along the coast to Sotogrande Marina and we called into the ‘ K’ bar
for a “ Sundowner” as it went down for the last time over the weekend !! The
picture below sees us at the start of the ‘ Marathon’ It was then time for
supper so we had settled on ‘Restaurant San Rafael’ just before Sabinillas;
David and Jane had not been before to this very traditional Spanish eatery so
they were very impressed as we settled in and then the freshly baked Bread
arrived on the table with Garlic Virgin Olive Oil to pour in the vent holes!
David ordered a very fine bottle of vintage Reserve Rioja to go with the meal;
they ordered on our recommendation the whole Shoulder of Lamb-spit roasted and
we had again our favorite ‘Chateaubriand’ medium rare with BĂ©arnaise sauce,
David declared the sauce excellent! Their Lamb is cut up at the table and at
the same time our Beef was presented with a selection of fresh vegetables –
with the meal they present a dish straight from the oven of Baked
Boulangere/Hot Pot potatoes – everything was perfect and the meal was greatly
enjoyed along with the wine by all ! The pictures below show us settling in to
the restaurant for a ‘Helluva’ start to the weekend.
