MANILVA VENDIMIA SATURDAY.

SATURDAY 1st/ SEPTEMBER 2012.


BRIAN AND LILLI HERE IN SUNNY MANILVA ON “ VENDIMIA ”SATURDAY/ – DAY 6.



In the morning a made a large pan of Chicken Curry ready for the weekends forthcoming celebrations; meanwhile the rest of the ‘Gang ’were getting ready for the evenings festivities, Lilli went off to the Aparthotel pool for the day as you can see in the pictures below in her ‘ Audrey Hepburn ’ Hat !! The fire pictures from the day before are very spectacular and show how fierce it was it could have been a lot worse, the fire helicopters and planes do a very dangerous job and the local firemen are working in the heat of the day as well as the fire !

At lunchtime we went down to Bodega Augustin and met up with Lilly and Brian for a friendly warm up session before the evening licked off; back at the house before we went out we had a little snack to keep us going and line the stomach ! I had cooked all the Chicken wings that I had saved and I made a BBQ sauce to dip them in, we had an Avocado salad along with Prawns and Crab with a seafood dipping salsa and on the side Baked Potato wedges and some rather nice Baby New Potatoes that I cooked in their skins and them pan fried them in foaming butter ! We then hit Calle Mar for the evenings celebrations as you can see in the pictures above; some of the pictures are from the morning when the locals set up their family ‘ Sonbrajo’s ’and Manolo at Bar Rojas extended his. In the evening the village Brass Band led by Fernando leads the procession along Calle Mar with the village council and then the first grapes are collected ready for Sunday; The two bands then kick off and the music and dancing goes on until 4-00am in the morning ! Brian and Lilli met a lot of their old English and Spanish friends from the time here and Brian ended up with Andy after he had finished work and did not come home till Sunday morning – dirty stop out !
