FRIDAY/SATURDAY 29TH/30TH APRIL 2011 .
We were up bright and early on Friday morning to get everything ready for the Royal visit ; the hire car was dropped off at the front door, a brand new Nisson Note in a very fetching Champagne color, we then shot to the supermarket to stock up with the essentials ie.the wine, Gin, Bacardi and Beers along with some nibbles ! We picked Tim and Thea up from the airport in Malaga at 7-00pm and were back in the house by 8-00pm, we started with a chilled bottle of Rose Cava and some nibbles including a fine Manchego Cheese; we then went down to the Restaurante Alfonso who always make us very welcome, the owner is the chef and we just ask him for what we want, Tim and I had Sirloin steaks cooked in herb butter with Frits, Brenda had the Joan Dory Meuniere and Thea had a Brochette of mixed meats, the red house wine ,a Rioja is always excellent after our usual drinks of Gin and Tonics and Bacardi and Coca Cola with mucho Hielo ! We ended up back at Bar Rojas for more drinks and Carajillo’s and then walked home for a night cap, sadly the weather forecast was right, it was raining, but not cold all day.
On Saturday morning we had a light breakfast of Tea, Toast and Fresh Orange Juice before we set off down the coast towards Marbella; We started in the village with some very nice Tapas in Bodega Augustine, it is the in place at the moment; then I set off out of Sabinillas towards Estepona and on the way made a detour up to Casares as the folks had not seen the white village before we went into Estepona and gave then a taste of the old town and the front, dodging the showers, as we were all day. We stopped at Laguna Beach but sadly the Mai Tai bar is no longer there ! We then called into the Tikatano Beach restaurant to show them the place before we checked into the Marriot Resort, I had arranged a day pass so we could use the indoor pool and then have dinner in the restaurant; in the afternoon the sun came out so we sat outside by the infinity pool and had a few drinks before our swim,Thea made it but we carried on drinking! In the evening we had dinner in the restaurant which was very nice, the pictures are below from Saturday, sadly there will be no pictures of our Sunday as the assistant camera person did not pick up the camera, sorry !The meal was very good as usual, after our starters Brenda for her main course had a large Breast of Duck, pink, and rest of us had Fillet Steak and Frits which was excellent, the White and Red wines were both fine Riojas and we finished off in the Bar on the late Happy Hour on cocktails,Caipirinha’s hit the spot ! As we arrived back in Manilva Bar Rojas was still open so we had our night caps and Caraajillo’s ! One “ Helluva ”Saturday !!
