A WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY AT THE START OF AN ' HELLUVA' WEEK.

MONDAY 24th/ FEBRUARY 2020.

We had just a little lie in this morning, as there is no ‘Little Bella’ this week ( half-term ) – we then freshened up before calling Lyn, over in Melbourne, Australia, again, on the ‘ Facebook Messenger’ – this time we made contact, on the ‘ Voice Mail’ and then tried a ‘Video Link Up’ – which worked, so we were able to see her for the first time in a while and have a nice catch up/chat about all her news etc, she has a problem with her landline at the moment.

She looks very well and is starting to get out & about once each week, with a list of places to go, a Jazz Club ( last week) - the Theater to see ‘ Billy Elliot’ and a live concert to see ‘ Fleetwood Mac’! She has brought her dear ‘Jacks’ ashes home and all the family are planning to spread them on his birthday, at one of his favourite beaches where they met. The weather is hot & humid at the moment, she is receiving cards and messages all the time.

Brenda then took ‘ Chico’ out for his first walk of the day around the bottom of the village, when she returned I had prepared an old fashioned  cooked ‘English ‘ breakfast for a change, ‘Campo Fried Eggs, Crispy Smoked Bacon, Seared local Tomato & Sliced Baby Mushrooms ‘  with White & Brown toast and steaming mugs of hot/strong Tea, to set us up for the busy week ahead!

In ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ we have ‘ Nacho & Baby Chris’ with us all day, from early, on Wednesday, then ‘Lolo’ is now arriving on Thursday evening for his two-week holiday, meanwhile ‘ Chico’ is still with us for another two weeks, next Monday/Tuesday little ‘ Miss Bella’ will be back with us all!

On Tuesday it’s ‘ Shove Tuesday ‘ – so it will be ‘ Crepes a la Mode’ for our dessert.

On Thursday morning I will be out on my travels for the weekly shopping, as it’s local ‘ Bank Holiday on Friday, for the ‘ Dia de Andalucia’ – which commemorates the 1980 referendum making Andalusia an autonomous region of Spain, it also happens to be “ Global Scouse Day “ on the same day each year!

Saturday is the 29th February – as it’s a ‘Leap Year’ and finally on Sunday the 1st March it’s ‘ St. David’s Day’ – the patron saint of Wales, who died back in 589 AD!

This morning the sun was out first thing and the sky is cloudless and bright blue, as the breeze has dropped, so by lunchtime it’s due to reach 20 degs+ - overnight down to 11/12 degs+ - the rest of the week has now settled down, staying dry and sunny, with a few patchy clouds at times, hovering in the high ‘ teens’ back up to 21 degs+ by the weekend, next week could be a bit more unsettled as the next ‘ Atlantic’ front comes in  and the breeze stiffens again, watch this space.

Yesterday afternoon we made contact, as arranged, with Sandra & Bill, over in a balmy ( 5 degs+)  Everett, Ontario, Canada, on the ‘ Skype’ video, Sandra is still off work with her problem ‘ Sciatica’ – but is hoping to go back to work for half-days soon, they were just out on their way to a ‘ Diaper Party ‘ at her sisters Caroline house, as her daughter is expecting her second baby very shortly.

She then had some very exciting news to tell us ! They have booked their flights from Toronto to Madrid, which they prefer, after Sandra has retired, at the start of the month, and are coming for 3 weeks this time! They arrive in Madrid on the 19th October and are then flying down to Malaga, to pick up the hire car from the same company and then go for a 2/3 day visit to Seville, before coming down to the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ the following Saturday the 24th October, where they have re-booked the same large villa on the ‘ Manilva Beach’ complex! They are due to fly back over the weekend of the 7th November. We are very excited to say the least!! Watch this space.

On the sports results from yesterday; Arsenal beat Everton 3-2 and down at Twickenham a rampant England totally out-played Wales and won 24 -12 in the ‘ Guinness Six Nations Rugby Union’

At lunchtime on our walk we ended up sat outside ' Bar Castillo' in the very hot sunshine having a nice cool drink and a couple of Juan's excellent 'Tapas' - ' Tortillitas de Camarones - Thin Crispy Shrimp Pancakes & Flamenquines - a Deep Fried Roll of Pork, Jamon Cerrano and Cheese '

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Chicken Schnitzels’ – flattened Breasts- coated in crispy breadcrumbs and shallow-fried in Vegetable Oil until crisp & golden, then topped with a ‘ Campo Fried Eggs’ -  served with lots of Lemon Wedges and accompanied with finely sliced ‘ French’ green Beans and triple-cooked ‘ Frits’

The menus for the rest of the week have also been agreed; on Tuesday it’s ‘ Grilled Gammon Steaks’ – then on Wednesday I’m making a ‘ Beef & Vegetable Stew’ which will become a pan of “ Scouse “ on Thursday, when I add more diced/boiled potatoes, to celebrate ‘Global Scouse Day ‘ on Friday, as we are still having a ‘Fish Supper’ – Saturday is our regular ‘ Steak Night’ and then next Sunday we are roasting a ‘Lamb’?!

Last night we watched the excellent return of the award winning 5th series of ‘Last Tango in Halifax ‘ as the story line unfolded, with all the same actors, which we have now caught up with after reading the past story lines, sadly it’s only on for four episodes.

This afternoon/evening we will catch up with all the ‘Quiz Shows’ that we follow ‘ Countdown, Tenable, Tipping Point, The Chase, Pointless, Mastermind, Only Connect and  University Challenge’ and then after supper channel hop to find something to watch.

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
