FRIDAY 6th/
SEPTEMBER 2013.
First thing
this morning we shot down to Sabinillas for the weekend shopping; the forecast
for today was something called ‘RAIN’ – In fact it Is very warm and sunny 30degs
in sunny Manilva!? So much for the forecast!
We called
into the wholesale/retail fruit and vegetable small market/shop first after
stopping at ‘Super Sol’ for some English goods, their fish counter was still
open so for a change we bought some lovely fresh baby Soles and local fresh
Gambas for tonight’s supper; at the same time I picked up some assorted fresh
fish to put away ready to make a Fish Pie at a later date. ‘Mercadona ‘is now
back to normal after the holiday hoards have departed. Finally we called into
the English bookshop for the newspapers and some more ‘Patterson’s’ to read.
After
unpacking back at the house Brenda went off to the local market for some fresh
flowers and came back with two pairs of new Knickers! (The Flower Stall man was
not there!) I went down to our butchers for our Saturday night ‘Steak a la
Plancha’ and no I did not come back with any new underpants!!

over in Flushing Meadows at the ‘US Open Tennis’ both Federer and Murray have
been knocked out and Nadel is playing out of his skin!
This
weekend it’s the ‘ Italian Grand Prix’ from Monza .
And finally
over the weekend it’s the announcement of who is going to host the “ 2020
Olympics ” between Tokio,Istanbul and MADRID!
This
evening we are having the Baby Soles ‘A la Meuniere’ with baby New Potatoes and
Garden Peas with some homemade ‘Tartar sauce’ on the side which I’ am just
about to make! Then I will try and find a film to watch that Brenda likes with
no loud music,shouting,fighting,shooting,stabbing,bad language,war,cowboys,car
chases and sex! I think its going to be a hard job!!
Well I had a partial success with the epic,romantic,comedy-drama " Forrest Gump " from 1994 starring Tom Hanks,Robin Wright,Gary Sims and Sally Fields - it won six Oscars including Best Picture,Director and Best Actor for Tom Hanks; Brenda watched it from start to finish - her verdict ' Soppy !' Well you can't please everybody !!
PS; This evening on Facebook I had a message from Brian over in Finland,he was asking if the news that he had read about a young motor cyclist being killed yesterday lunchtime on the road down to Sabinillas was actually the son of his friends,I had read the name but it didn't mean anything to me,so I rang Mano and asked him,it was Brian's friends son so I got back in touch with him to confirm the sad news; I turns out that we know them as well as they they used to run a bar next to Bodega Augustin,we just missed the accident as it happened just after we came up the road on the bus. Our deepest condolence's go to them and all the family.
