MANILVA START OF THE WEEK.

MONDAY/TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY 11th/ 12th/13th JULY 2011.

The forecast for the week down here on the Costa Del Sol is sun and more sun, getting warmer by the day; in the north of Spain they have had rain storms and hailstones! On Monday we had a nice relaxing day at home listening to loud Blues music and having the occasional drink! In the evening for a change we had a late Brunch of Smoked Bacon and Eggs with Mushrooms, Tomatoe,Chorizo and Sauté Potatoes – all local.
We went out on Tuesday morning for a short walk with Cheta and called into the butchers for some Pork Cutlets for dinner; on the way back we stopped at Bar Rojas for a refreshing cool drink just as Mano and Anna came along posing in the ‘ Lexus ’ so they stopped for a chat as we took in a slight cool breeze blowing down from the hills, for a change.Manolo was working on the Sonbrajo after his day off on Monday as you can see in the pictures below. With the Pork Cutlets for dinner, which I pan fried in Lemon Butter, we had Cabbage with Alselgas,beautiful local Carrots and  Lyonaise Potatoes made with small Baked Potaoes.Today Brenda has been out and about this morning with Cheta to the new vets that has just opened in the village as her owner Isobel asked her to take her for injections and a shampoo before giving her treatment for Fleas, She took all her papers with her but ran into a problem as she need more injections and chipping before she goes any further, so it’s back to Plan ‘B’for now ! Wait and see !! While she was out I made a Chicken Curry for supper tonight which we having with Basmati Rice. Over the last couple of days we have been chasing around in the village to find a poster that has been produced by the Tourism Department showing the ‘ Classic Car Rally ’that is coming up to the village on Sunday; I collect the local posters and the best ones are framed and are up on the wall in my office !

TOUR DE FRANCE 2011. STAGE 10.

After the rest day on Monday all the injured riders appeared with all the scratches bandaged and set off on a hilly stage from Aurillac to Carmaux over 158kms. It turned out to be a sprint at the finish when Andre Greipel denied Britain’s Mark Cavendish in a thrilling sprint finish, it was the first time Cavendish has been beaten by his former teammate in a head-to- head sprint ! He was not a happy Bunny !! The picture below shows them just after crossing the line when Greipel beat him by a tyres width. Today’s stage will give him a chance to claim the 18TH stage win of his career as the go from Blaye-les-Mines to Lavour over 167kms,as it is expected to favour the sprinters.

NEWSFLASH; Mark Cavendish has just won the stage as he beat Greipel to give him his revenge for yesterday !! See the pictures above.

Thought for the Day;

Life is an escalator;You can move forward or backward; You can not remain still.
