A WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 25th/ OCTOBER 2014.

This morning we had a little lie until the gas bottle delivery men came calling down our street; as we were having our breakfast ‘Chispa’ came in for her first visit of the day, she will call back later and then again this evening just as we are about to have supper!

Last night we spoke to Lilli after Brian had picked her up from the airport over in Malaga, she had already settled back into their apartment and taken the dogs for a walk and was down in Sabinillas on a night out! She is calling in later today for a chat and a good catch up and gossip.

I’m up in the office as you can see typing the Blog and at the same time watching ‘BBC TV Breakfast News’ before ‘Saturday Kitchen Live’ comes on. Meanwhile downstairs Brenda is getting the ingredients ready for a batch of my famous ‘Ensaladillia Rusa – Russian Salad’ which I will make later.

Tonight for supper we are having our usual ‘Entrecote Steak’ cooked on a very hot griddle plate ‘Med-Rare’ with Sautéed Baby Mushrooms & Onions, Finley sliced Green Beans and of course twice-cooked Frits, not Chips, these are cut thinner by the vegetable department( Brenda!) Deep-fried Garlic Buds for Brenda and mine topped with a Campo Fried Egg! – Béarnaise sauce on the side!

Back to normal with the football this weekend over in the ‘Premiere League’ in England Liverpool welcome Hull. Manchester City travel to West Ham and then tomorrow Burnley welcome Everton. Over here there is only one game today and that’s the ‘El Clasico’ as Real Madrid welcome Barcelona at 5-00pm this evening! I will hopefully watch it upstairs in the office on the larger PC via my ‘IT’ Sports channel; for the first time since his ban and joining Barcelona Suarez plays along side Messi and Neymar! The ‘Motor GP’ this weekend is over at Sepang for the ‘Malaysian GP’

Sadly City lost 2-1 and Liverpool could only draw 0-0!

See the office in the picture below as I'm watching 'El Clasico' on the right in 'Portugese' and now English and the BBC Sports Text of the game on the left!  Real Madrid 3 - Barcelona 1 - oh dear!!

After our fish supper we settled down to watch from start to finish the epic movie “ Tombstsone” from 1993 starring Kurt Russel & Val Kilmer with Sam Elliot,Bill Paxton,Power Booths,Michael Biehn, Dana Delany with Charlton Heston in a small part and the narrator is Robert Mitchum - strange to think that all the cowboys depicted in the film were actual people, in fact Wyatt Earp died in 1920 in his bed!

WARM AND SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY;

WEDNESDAY 16th/ APRIL 2014.

A nice quiet day at home today as we have no plans, so far, the sun is out and it’s very pleasant so later we will go for a long walk with the dog around the village; we are picking up the shopping tomorrow as it’s a bank holiday on Friday. It is now officially hot as we went for our walk, they are just putting the sign up in the new passage way as you can see in the pictures above,down in the church they are starting to get ready for tomorrow nights procession of the statue of 'Jesus'

While we were out we called into the 'IT' shop for some inks for the printer,they also have some rather nice lady's fashion's on show; Brenda ended up with a new pair of dark blue jeans for 'Easter!'

This means that its catch up time around the house and I’ am up in the office on the WWW reading the newspapers, updating the Blog,sending some E-Mails and adding some stuff onto Facebook; later we also catch up with some reading as we are now into the new books by ‘Lee Child’

Brenda has just been around to the chemists for some essentials including some cough mixture as she has a nasty dry cough; in the shop they reminded her that tonight it’s the final of the ‘Cope Del Rey( King’s Cup) – the Spanish FA Cup’ up in Valencia this year between Real Madrid and Barcelona – the two sons of the chemist Miguel are Real Madrid supporters so they sent me a message to say of course ‘Real’ to win!

Sadly they could be right as Barcelona if they play like they have in their last two games, including Messi have no chance!! It’s on TVE1 this evening and all the bars along Calle Mar, are all Real Madrid supporters especially Manuel up in ‘Bar Rojas’ – I think I will stay in and watch it!!

Real Madrid won 1-2 with a Gareth Bale 'wonder goal !'

So this weekend we have ‘Scruffy’ staying with us for his ‘Easter Holiday’- on Sunday morning we are taking Josie and Den to the airport at Gibraltar then next Tuesday we are going across to Estepona so as I can get my haircut at the barber’s – it sounds like 2 inches is coming off! At the same time Brenda has a watch that needs repairing and also some essential toiletries and I’ am hoping to find a pair of new ‘Jesus’ sandals! We are also on Wednesday morning taking Lillemor’s friend Linda back to the bus station in Marbella as she flies home later to Sweden from Malaga airport.

Tonight’s ‘Light’ supper under the new regime is ‘ Minute Steak a la Plancha’ with a Baked potato and Mixed salad before we settle down to watch the football.

Last night after we returned from Marbella we watched the award winning film “ Good Will Hunting ”from 1997 with Matt Damon in the title role that he wrote the screenplay for with Ben Affleck( Oscar’s for both of them!) Robin Williams ( Oscar for Best Supporting Actor!) Minnie Driver,what happened to her? – and Stellen Skarsgard.

PS; The pictures above of the " Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railway " were taken by a German Railway enthusiast over the weekend and show more trains that are now running ready for the Easter weekend !

COOL AND CLEAR IN SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY;

SATURDAY 11h/ JANUARY 2014.

This morning we overslept as the village is so quiet, no deliveries, no street venders, no children or the ‘Maria’s’ out chatting – It’s cold and overcast but still dry over the weekend but into next week the wet stuff is on the horizon and the overall temperatures are going down to 14/15degs as an Atlantic front crosses us!

After our tea & toast I shot up to the office and tuned in to watch on the small PC “Saturday Morning Kitchen” with one of the old favorites Brian Turner cooking a ‘Rack of Venison’ – on the large PC I’ve checked out the WWW and I’ am now typing today’s Blog – as you can see!

We are having a quiet weekend by our standards with no guests for supper and no roast on Sunday; this evening we are back to good old ‘Steak & Chips’ with sautéed Mushrooms and Onions, finely sliced Green Beans and of course twice-cooked Chips – Brenda’s steak garnished with deep-fried Garlic buds and mine topped with a local ‘Campo’ fried Egg!

This afternoon it will be time for more football; over in the ‘Premiere League’ in England its Everton v Norwich and tomorrow Stoke v Liverpool and Newcastle v Manchester City while over here in ‘La Liga’ the ‘Match of the Day’ is the clash between the top two teams in ‘La Liga’ at the moment – Atletico Madrid at home to Barcelona! Tomorrow Real Madrid travel to Barcelona to play the second team of the city ‘Espanol’ ( Mano’s team )

Everton 2 - Norwich 0 - A certain person over in Pori,Finland is out celebrating in the snow!! Over here in an absorbing game it ended 0-0 so Barcelona are still top on goal difference  !!

Last night we channel hopped after the news and weather and found on one of the more obscure channels a programme narrated by Russell Crowe about various millionaires in Australia going under cover in the poorer parts of Sydney and Melbourne – it showed Australia in a totally different light!
