THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY DAMP & CRISP' SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY COLD, WINDY AND WET SUNNY MANILVA ON THURSDAY.

THURSDAY 31st/ JANUARY 2019.

I was up very early this morning to welcome back little princess ‘ Reina’ for the day, last night Daniela sent me a massage on ‘Facebook’ asking if we could have her today, she shot upstairs and joined us on the bed as we all had a little lie in, she’s now in her duvet outside the main office/studio door!

We then after freshening up had our light breakfast of toast & tea before putting together the shopping list, I’m now going out on my travels down to Sabinillas on Saturday morning, to try and beat the rain and strong winds that are forecast for Friday, also we don’t need any fresh flowers or wall plants this week, the local market at the far end of the promenade is only open on a Friday morning.

Yesterday it brightened up later and was warm and sunny in the afternoon sunshine, the ‘ wet-stuff’ hit us later in the evening and has not stopped since, this morning it’s grey & overcast with a stiff breeze blowing, by lunchtime it will only be 15 degs, tomorrow is the same, going colder and windy as the day goes on, by Saturday it should be dry but very windy as the new front come in from the Atlantic, bringing with it the warmer weather over the weekend and into next week, we are in for dry spell with sunshine and patchy clouds at times, hovering in the mid/high ‘ teens’ – watch this space.

See below ‘ St Georges Plateau ‘ on Lime Street, William Brown Street and the ‘ Beatles’ at the Pier Head, yesterday, as the snow hit Liverpool.

Last night we had a nice ‘ Skype’ video chat, news update & gossip  with Tim & Thea up in Mojacar, it was Thea’s birthday and they had been out with friends celebrating, so they were both very ‘Relaxed’- especially Tim! Thea’s birthday card had only arrived the day before, Brenda posted it in the local Sub-Post Office one week ago! She had also not received any family & friends cards from Spain and the UK!!

They have also been watching the “ Great Canadian Railway Journeys “ with ‘Michael Portillo’ and have fallen in love with Canada, the spectacular scenery and the grand railways, watch out Sandra & Bill, as they could come calling later in the year!  They have booked to go home to Old Colwyn in North Wales on March 12th- reaching Colwyn Bay on the 15th

See below a spectacular picture of the ‘Bay of Colwyn’ taken yesterday, looking a little more peaceful and sunny.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Omelette’s’ – ‘Cheese’ for Brenda ( grated Mild Cheddar & Parmesan) and ‘Paysanne’ for me ( small diced/fried Onions, Potatoes & Vegetables) – with finely sliced ‘ French’ Green Beans and Baked Potatoes.

See below;

Today is definitely ‘a stay at home day’ – keeping dry & warm, out of the cold and wet weather, we are taking things very easy, basically doing nothing, because we can, relaxing and later watching the news updates and later following the ‘Quiz Shows’ as usual and then channel hopping, after supper, to find a good film to watch, watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY COLD & DAMP SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY COLD & DAMP SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 30th/ JANUARY 2019.

We had a nice long lie in this morning as the village is, as usual, is very quiet, we then freshened up and had our regular breakfast of toast & tea, before getting the day on the go. ‘Chispa’ has just called in to see us, as at the moment it’s still dry, she has just had her bath and smells like a little ‘ Tart’!

Last night on the Canadian news ( CNN Toronto) on ‘Facebook’ - that we follow, is showed the severe snow falls and extremely low freezing temperatures that they are having ( - 30 degs!) as well as over all of Ontario, we have sent a message to Sandra & Bill to take care when they are out & about, Sandra going to work and Bill working in it! ‘ Stay Safe & Warm ‘ !!

See below Everett, Ontario,  this morning !

Over in the UK it's " White-Out Wednesday " as they have  2 inches of Snow!!

Meanwhile over in Melbourne & Australia the folks are in the height of their summer, with the temperatures reaching 40 degs+ - they are having to use their air-conditioning all the time! ‘ Keep Cool at all Times ‘ !!

Down here on the ‘ Costa Del Sol’ overnight it turned a little damp, as forecast, this morning it’s very cold, by our standards, windy and the ‘ wet-stuff’ is in the air, by lunchtime it will be only 15 degs, the rain is hitting us later and over the next couple of days, I’m going to get wet when I’m out on my travels on Friday morning for the weekly shopping, a stronger wind will be blowing also, bringing in a new warmer weather front over the weekend, we are then in for a warmer and sunny Saturday & Sunday, next week is looking dry & settled, with patchy clouds but mostly warm & sunny, hovering in the high ‘ teens’ reaching 20 degs+! – overnight up to 10 degs!!  The ‘ Sun’ will be back in sunny Manilva ! Watch this space.

Yesterday over in North Wales in Colwyn Bay the beach turned ‘ White’ as they had snow, during our 13 years at the ‘ Hotel Seventy Degrees ‘ we only had Snow once, inland at our house in ‘Rhyd-Y-Foel’ - 2 miles away, it was 2/3 feet thick! See below the beach.

This evening for our supper I’m preparing later a ‘ Casserole of Sliced Beef’ in a rich ‘ Red Wine( thanks Brenda!) Onion & Mushroom Salsa’ – accompanied with Brenda’s famous ‘ Mashed Potato’ and a small selection of fresh local Vegetables  ‘ Comfort Food for the Gods ’ – on Thursday Brenda is having her favourite ‘Cheese Omelette’ I will have mine, ‘ Omelette Paysanne ‘ – made with a filling of small diced assorted vegetables & potatoes. Our ‘ Friday Fish Night’ is going to be my version/recipe’ of the classic ‘ Fish Pie ‘ – using assorted fish & seafood.

Just a quick reminder to all our family & friends all over the World, please when you are out & about, send us a ‘ Postcard ‘ of where you have been, you then get one back from sunny Manilva or the ‘ Costa Del Sol’! See below one of our three boards !!

This evening after supper will be settling down to catch up with all the news, then channel hopping to find something to watch, over February there are lots of old series coming back, watch this space.

THOUGHTS FOR THE DAY FROM A VERY ' CRISP' SUNNY MANILVA;

...

A VERY ' BRISK' & SUNNY MANILVA ON TUESDAY.

TUESDAY 29th/ JANUARY 2019.

I was up early this morning, after a quick freshen up I shot down to our car in the underground car park to collect all our documents, that I keep in the car in case we are stopped by the ‘Guardia Civil’ – I then called into the ‘ Town Hall’ to have them all checked & updated, as by the end of the month they need to be in order, in time for the local elections later in the year, and for the ‘ Brexit’ problems etc.

Nest week there is a Seminar, on Wednesday afternoon, arranged by the Council, with various Politian’s etc taking part, speaking and answering questions!

See below.

At the entrance to the new ‘ Calle Mar’ the contactors were installing three automatic bollards to control the traffic passing through the street, when needed, at the moment the local Police put up light fences, which are moved aside by the locals!  Pictures to follow when they are working!!

I also popped into the local ‘ Sub-Post Office’ to thank the post lady for the very quick delivery of the Norah’s birthday card to the UK, as I was coming back Monica, from ‘ Bar Rojas’ stopped in her car to tell me that she is closing, due to financial problems and opening a new business in ‘ Calle Iglesia’  - near to our local Butchers (see below)  – we wish her ‘ Good Luck’ – she has always looked after us and her food was also very good, watch this space.

When I returned, as I was on the breakfast rota, so we had my now famous ‘ Toasted Crispy Smoked Bacon Butties’ – smothered in ‘ HP’ Brown sauce - open on brown for Brenda, with mugs of hot/strong ‘PG’ Tips Tea, to start the day in the right direction!

While I was getting ready earlier I was, as usual, listening to the ‘ Andrew Charles Breakfast Show’ on “ Castle Radio FN 89.2 & Online on the WWW’  as this week’s ‘ Music Quiz’ came on, it was a classic ‘8’ second track of “Supertramp “ from 1974 with ‘ Dreamer ‘ – I’m in the draw, again, on Friday morning! Watch this space.

This morning the sun broke through earlier and the sky is cloudless & blue, there is a stiff breeze blowing, so by lunchtime it will only reach 15/16 degs, with sunshine, but still very ‘fresh in the shade, tomorrow and the next couple of days it’s now showing that the ‘ wet-stuff’ is going to hit us, for the first time this year, as the breeze stiffens, by the weekend its going be very windy and colder, but dry and sunny, next week is looking more settled, dry and sunny with patchy clouds, hovering in the mid/high ‘ teens’ – watch this space.

See below sunny Manilva – looking ‘ Mucho Frio ‘!

Brenda has just been along to the local Chemists in ‘Calle Mar’ for some of our prescription tablets, she checked out ‘Calle Iglesia’ and the premises by the Butchers is being smartened up, it’s owned by friends, Juan & Amelia, it looks like it could be a ‘Fruit & Vegetables Shop’ that Monica is opening( see above) Watch this space.

For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Gammon Steaks’ -topped with seared Pineapple Rings and ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs, with Garden Peas and for a change ‘ Beef Dripping’ Roast Potato slices! Tomorrow morning I’m making a ‘Casserole of Sliced Beef ‘ in a rich Mushroom & Onion Salsa, with a dish of Brenda’s famous ‘ Mashed Potato! On Thursday it’s going to be ‘ Omelette’s of Choice’ with Baked Potatoes.

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the first part of ‘Silent Witness – the second and final part is this evening – it started with a very graphic car bomb exploding, it’s all to do with old, retired ‘IRA’ terrorists settling old scores!

Before we caught the next episode of ‘ Great Canadian Railway Journeys’ with Michael Portillo, as he explored Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba, this evening he strikes west into the province of ‘ Saskatchewan ‘ across the ‘Great Plains’- on Thursday he reaches ‘ Alberta’s’ second city Edmonton, where Jeff & Annette, from Brisbane,  daughter Kate and her partner, live & work, finally on Friday he’s back in the ‘Rocky Mountains’ in the glacier at Athabasca, as his journey reaches a dramatic scenic conclusion!
