A ' CRISP' WARM & SUNNY MANILVA ON WEDNESDAY.

WEDNESDAY 21st/ MARCH 2018.

We had a little lie in this morning as there was no ‘Reina’ – she’s back next week on Tuesday/Wednesday, after a quick freshen up we shot off with the two dogs for their first walk of the day, they both slept all night, Chico in his bed and ‘ Scruffy’ on ours! We then had a quick toast & tea before ‘ Chico’ was picked up down in the ‘Plaza de la Vendimia’ – he will be back with us in ‘ Doggy World Heaven’ shortly, we then carried on down to ‘ Super Sol ‘ in the car, with ‘Scruffy’- as he loves going out for a ride, down through the vine fields with the sun over a sparkling calm Mediterranean, as we needed some more dog food for ‘ Scruffy’ We are waiting to hear from Rose when she and Adrian are coming home from the Hospital, watch this space.

As forecast, this morning the sky has cleared and is bright blue, the sun was out early and there is a light breeze, making it very ‘ crisp’ but still warm & sunny, by lunchtime going up to 15/16 degs+ - tomorrow it’s the same but then on Friday the wet stuff is due to return, it’s with us for the weekend including, sadly, ‘Palm Sunday’ and the start of the ‘ Semana Santa’ week of religious celebrations/parades, from next Monday, at the moment, the forecast is for the sun to return, going up to 19/20degs+  for the rest of the week and over the ‘Easter Weekend’ – with just  the threat of rain on one day, at the moment, watch this space.

At lunchtime on our walk with ' Scruffy' we ended up at ' Bar Rojas ' sat outside in the middle of the street works, in the very hot sunshine, having a nice cool drink and our favourite ' Tapas' of ' Carne Mechada & Epanadas '

For our supper this evening we are now having a ‘ Casserole of Braised Steak’ – using slices of ‘Entrecote Steak’ – dusted in seasoned flour and browned off, I then sauté the sliced Onion & Shallots with a little chopped Garlic, in the same pan, before making the sauce with sweated-off Diced Carrots, Turnips, Celery & Leeks and Baby Mushrooms, with a good slug of Red Wine, along with a dash of ‘Lea & Perrins and Tabasco’- then a rich Beef & Vegetable stock, before adjusting the seasoning, colour and consistency, to taste!I then layer the steak & onions in the casserole dish before adding the sauce, ready to go in the oven this evening, along with Brenda’s famous ‘ Mashed Potato’ – served with Cabbage with Acelgas, Glazed Baby Carrot Batons and Whole Baby French Green Beans. ‘ Comfort Food’ to die for!!

Last night after supper we settled down to watch the final episode of the new series of ‘ Shetland’ – as Detective Perez ( Douglas Henshall ) and his assistant played by Allison O’Donnell – try to find who killed a local girl 23 years ago, after the man convicted of the killing, was released after a mistrial, and returns to the island, then the daughter of the senior investigating office who put him away is killed, the detective also has personal problems with his stepdaughter, in the end they find the killers, both local, and not under suspicion, with a stand-off at the end with a shotgun, and a death by a heart attack, watch it to find who they are !!

Thoughts for the Day;  See above.
