MANILVA THIS WEEK.

THURSDAY/FRIDAY 2nd/3rd/ FEBRUARY 2012.

Well the weather is as forecast; sun but cold and getting colder, for the first time since we have been here it is dropping to single figures over the weekend and they even have snow in Malaga. We wrap up well and still go for our brisk walk around the village with Cheta and ended up at Bodega Augustin for a coffee and tea, as we sat in the covered front it was actually warm as the sun hit us. Charlie is fine and eating well and talking his head off, we leave the TV on when we go for our walk as he likes to watch it. In the afternoon I spent some time working on the new camera as I have a couple of technical problems still to resolve; connecting to the PC to save the pictures is the main one and not being able to delete them from the camera the other one ! So no new pictures at the moment – watch this space.
In the evening for dinner we had the Calves Liver that we bought from the English Butchers; I pan fried it in foaming butter after dusting it with flour, it was very tasty and melted in the mouth, with it we had crispy Smoked Bacon, Pork Sausage and Sauté Onions and Mushrooms and Square Chips together with Garden Peas and Glazed Carrots, at the moment the local baby Carrots on the branch are really nice. The late film was a cracker with John Travolta and Madeleine Stowe in the main parts “ The Generals Daughter ” from 1999; it is a classic murder/mystery about a generals daughter who is murdered on an army base, Travolta and Stowe are undercover detectives summoned to look into the matter and they soon uncover a slew of cover-ups at West Point ! One to watch.

On Friday morning we went down to Sabinillas in the car and did the weekend shopping as well as some messages; as usual as the day goes on it gets nicer and in the sun it is warm but once you are in the shade it is cold. We had a late snack brunch as we had to collect Andy from the bus station in Marbella in the evening; I did an Egg Fried Rice that I has seen on Saturday Morning Kitchen when Ken Hom showed how to do it – it worked ! Andy and Maria’s plane arrived on time but the bus connection did not so they had to get a train to Fuengirola and then a bus to Marbella; it meant that it was later than we planned when we got back to the village, Andy had also to go into work at the Manilva Green Aparthotel so he is picking Charlie up in the morning on his way home. Tomorrow is the start of the “Six Nations” Rugby when England’s first match with the new team is against Scotland at Murryfield so I’ am hoping to be able to watch it on the PC sports channel that I use.

Thought for the Day;

Do what you can for those less fortunate than yourself.
