MANILVA THIS WEEKEND/BANK HOLIDAY.

SATURDAY/TUESDAY 29th OCTOBER/1st NOVEMBER 2011.

HALLOWEEN/LEAH’S BIRTHDAY PARTY.

On Saturday morning after our tea and toast we went for a walk with the two dogs; the weather is warm and sunny, not like the rest of Spain which is wet and windy! The forecast over the weekend and up to the bank holiday on Tuesday is good but then it is turning a little towards the end of next week when we are over at the Marriot Vacation Club on the staff sales training process. We had a late brunch of Eggs, Bacon.Sausages, Tomatoe, Mushrooms and Sauté Potatoes as we were out in the evening at the party of the year-so far! Barbara and Pete are friends of Mano and Anna and lived by them till last year when they moved to their present house two doors up from Carlos; Their three children Jake, Megan and Leah go to the local school; and we see them most days so we have got to know them as Barbara takes them and picks them up. Barbara asked us to their Halloween party as it was at the same time as Leah’s sixth birthday; they had both really gone to town on the decorations and the food, both off which were spectacular! The lower ground floor and terrace had been made into a Halloween Witches Den and they had taken a lot of time and trouble with all the Ghosts and Gouls;also all the children and their parents had taken the time to dress up for the occasion as you can see in the pictures below ! One “ Helluva “ party!! Thanks.

We had a little lie in on Sunday morning after the night before; later we went for a long walk with the dogs and on the way back stopped at Bar Rojas for a lunchtime aperitif, when we go back to the house I watched the Inaugural Grand Prix from India upstairs in the office on the PC with the BBC coverage an on the TV downstairs in Spanish! In the evening we had our usual Saturday night supper of Steak and Chips before settling down to watch a film.

We were up bright and early on Monday morning as Brenda had her appointment at the surgery to update her tablet prescriptions and check with our doctor about the results of the scans from last week, will just have to wait for them. She then caught the lunchtime bus down to Sabinillas to go her hairdressing appointment to get her hair cut. In the meantime I made some Boulangere Potatoes for supper to go with our Lamb Cutlets.

Today,Tuesday,is a National Bank Holiday in Spain “ Dia de Todos Los Santos ” All Saints Day; once again the whole of the country shuts down on this special day in the religious calendar when all the families come together and go along to the cemeteries with loads of flowers to pay their respects, as you can see in the pictures above. We called into our local cemetery and were very moved by the devotion shown by all our neighbors who always make us very welcome. We then stopped off at the Football Ground and watched for a short time the match on the full pitch between Manilva in the Blue and Ronda in the Red striped shirts,Manilva were leading 2-0 as we left !This was in the ‘Infantile ’ league for 10/13 year olds. Pictures above also.

Thought for the Day;

In nature there are neither reward or punishments –there are only consequences.
