On Sunday afternoon Chris asked me if I would take Joan, as a surprise, to see the new apartment he had arranged for her to see in Docklands on the Isle of Dogs next to Canary Wharf on Monday morning and he would meet us there; his office is just around the corner on the 33rd floor of the Citibank building and he has a penthouse and roof terrace on the 40th floor of and adjacent building which overlooks the tower block by the side of the Thames in which Joan’s apartment is on the 9th floor! So I set of in the mini bus, originally I was going to go through central London but changed to plan B and went around the M25 to junction 2 and then into the Docklands by the A2 and the Blackwall tunnel. The pictures below shows the view on a grey day, the 02 Arena is just around the corner on the left; Joan has fallen in with love with the views and had us measuring it to see how her furniture would fit in! The journey there and back took us under four hours and I took the Mini Bus back to the car hire in Caversham when we got back.
