A ' CRISP' & SUNNY MANILVA ON MONDAY - ' NEW YEARS EVE 2018 '
We had a little lie in this morning before
both ‘Chico & Charlie’ let us know that it was time to go out, ‘Reina’ is
joining us later for the evening, after we all freshened up Brenda & Thea
took them for their first walk of the day around the village, meanwhile I was
on breakfast duty and prepared the folks a light breakfast of toast & tea,
we then started on the this evenings preparation’s for supper, Tim & Thea
then decided to go for a walk around the village with the dogs.
Luckily this morning it’s dry &
crisp’ with a stiff breeze out in the open, the clouds are clearing and the sun
is breaking though, by lunchtime its’ due to reach 16/17 degs+ - tomorrow it’s
more of the same, then for the rest of the week and over the weekend wear are
in for a slightly cooler spell, down to 14 degs at times, with still the threat
of the ‘ wet-stuff’ in the air, the following week is also the same, even a
cooler at times, at night down to single figs, 9 degs! Watch this space.
At lunchtime on our walk we ended up sat
outside ‘ Bar Rojas’ in the hot sunshine for a nice cool drink, we then moved
on to ‘Bar Castillo’ which was bouncing with locals, for a very nice ‘Tapas’
lunch and more drinks!
For our supper this evening we have
decided to have the ‘ Roast Entrecote of Beef - on the Bone’ – cooked ‘Pink –
no Blood’ and served with Crushed Carrots & Turnips, Broccoli &
Cauliflower Florets in a three Cheese sauce, Baby Brussels Sprouts with Smoked
Bacon Sippets and Garden Peas, not forgetting the Yorkshire Puddings and finger-licking
Pan Gravy, along with the Roast Potatoes in Beef Dripping! A selection of pre- party drinks and a selection
of fine Wines to follow, before we see in the ‘ New Year 2019’ three times!!!
First here in Spain, with the ‘12’
grapes at midnight, then with a call to Sandra & Bill over in Canada,
lastly watching ‘ Jool’s Holland’s Annual
Hootenanny’ from London! Later we will
no doubt end up in ‘ Bar Rojas ‘ for their ‘ Karakoke’ night!!

A VERY ' CRISP' & WINDY' SUNNY MANILVA ON SUNDAY.
We managed a little lie in this morning as
both the dogs slept in, ‘Chico’ on the blanket, by the side of the bed and ‘
Charlie’ downstairs on the settees, after freshening up we took them out for their
first walk of the day, down around a very windy village!
When we came back, as Brenda was on the
breakfast rota we had her famous ‘ Campo’ Poached Eggs on Toast, Scrambled for
her, with mugs of hot tea. Brenda is finishing getting ready for the arrival of
the ‘ Moffatt’s from Mojacar’ at around 2-00 pm, their ‘Penthouse Suite’ is
ready, the Larder and Wine Cellar are fully stocked, the ‘ Menu’s have been
agreed and all the ‘ staff’ have been briefed! Watch this space.
As I said above this morning it’s very
windy, it started yesterday evening as the light rain was blown in, we happily missed
it all in between our walks, it was blowing all night and so this morning there
has been some damage to the new street canopies along ‘ Calle Mar’- the sky is
grey & overcast with lots of black clouds being blown in from the
Mediterranean, at the moment it’s still dry but very ‘ Crisp’ – only reaching
17 degs+ by lunchtime, tomorrow at the start of the week, New Years Eve, we are
in for more of the same, the rest of the week and over next weekend is looking
the same, even getting a little cooler, with on one forecast more rain
forecast, watch this space.
This morning at the top of our street
there is a sponsored ‘Road Race’ around
the village, starting and finishing outside the Town Hall, with small prizes,
all for local charities,” San Silvestre 2018 “
See below;
Just a very quick update on the football
results from yesterday; Liverpool won, as the ‘ Rampant Reds’ run riot and put
Arsenal to the sword as they won 5-1 and went 9 points clear at the top of the ‘Premier
League’
We are meeting the folks down at the
main roundabout, later, and will then put their car away in the reserved spot
in the underground car park, after, after unpacking back at the house we will
be cracking open the first bottle of chilled ‘ Cava’ to welcome Tim & Thea
back to sunny Manilva.( a little ‘ crisp’
& breezy at the moment!)

A NOW SUNNY ' CRISP' AND STILL DRY SUNNY MANILVA ON SATURDAY.
We managed a little lie in this morning
before ‘ Charlie’ came up and woke us up, by jumping on the bed, he has spent
the night on our settee in the lounge, ‘Chico’ slept all night on the blanket
by the side of the bed, after freshening up, Brenda took the ‘ lads’ for their first
walk of the day, as the gas-bottle delivery man was due to exchange bottles, I
stayed at home and prepared a surprise breakfast of ‘ Campo’ Fried Eggs &
Crispy Smoked Bacon for me and sautéed sliced Mushrooms with Brenda’s Bacon, as
well as toast & tea.
Brenda then popped along to the Chemists in
‘Call Mar’ for our prescription tablets, I then went down to our local Butchers
to collect the ‘Rib of Entrecote Beef on the Bone’(4) for the New Years Eve
weekend.
See below;
This morning it’s very ‘ Crisp’ as there is
a stiff breeze blowing up from the Mediterranean, it’s overcast & cloudy at
the moment and sadly the ‘ wet-stuff’ is in the air and on all the forecasts! It’s
only reaching 14/15 degs+ by lunchtime – down to 10 degs overnight, at the moment the sky is blue, tomorrow is
going to be the same, New Years Eve will be dry but cold, the rest of next week
is looking settled and dry with the sun breaking through but even getting a
little colder at times, especially overnight dropping to 8 degs! Watch this space.
See below the sunrise this morning along
the coast.
On the sports front this weekend; over in
the ‘Premier League’ Everton have the long journey down to play Brighton, Liverpool
are at home to Arsenal, tomorrow Manchester City also have a long trip down to play
Southampton, this afternoon’s ‘ National Hunt Racing’ is from Newbury.
Yesterday when we were out & about in
sunny Manilva ‘ Calle Mar’ was closed at there was ‘ Council’ workmen on a ‘ Cherry
Picker’ – they were still out in the evening and the street lights had not come
on, later when we went out for our last walk of the day with the dogs it had
all changed, they have put ‘ LED’ lighting around all the Lamp Posts as well as
‘ Snowflakes ‘ signs at the top, ‘ Christmas’ has arrived in sunny Manilva,
better late than never! When the ‘Xmas
Lights’ were turned on, at the start of December, they only had a string of
white light bulbs along the street, Mario, the Mayor, at the time was not very
impressed and said he would see what he could do! This means that the new ‘
Calle Mar’ will be at it’s best for
next Saturday’s “ Three Kings “ parade and floats, the highlight of the ‘
Spanish ‘ Festive season, as last year it was a ‘ mud-bath ‘ after being dug up
before Xmas! The procession went around the outside of the village on the old, lower
by-pass!!
See below;
For our supper this evening we are having ‘ Grilled Fillet Steaks ‘ – cooked on a very
hot griddle-plate ‘ Med-Rare’ – the left to rest, garnished with Asparagus
Spears & Button Mushrooms, served with whole ‘ French’ Green Beans and
twice-cooked ‘ Frits’
We are taking things easy, later, Brenda is
in one of her ‘ ing’ modes, getting ready for the arrival of the ‘ Moffatt’s of
Mojacar ‘ tomorrow! Sadly the ‘ wet-proofs ‘ are out, ready for our walks with
the dogs, ’Charlie’ will love it, as after all he is a ‘ Water Dog ‘!
